Caroline Sims spoke about Giftedness and Educational Policy.
Giftedness and Educational Policy
This informative talk will look at how giftedness is perceived in policy documents and in teacher practice and what enabling and constraining factors can be identified in the process of policy enactment. Based on theories by Ball (1993) and Foucault (1981) the talk will examine how giftedness is perceived in educational policy and how giftedness can be studied as a matter in policy.
Caroline Sims is in the final stages of her doctoral study looking at how giftedness is conceptualised in educational policy in Sweden. She is also the coordinator of the new ECHA special Interest Group on Policy Analysis.
