“Unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality.”Emily Dickinson
We mourn the death of Prof. Victor Müller-Oppliger, who passed away on 14 November , 2020.
Victor had a great impact on European research on giftedness and gifted education throughout his career .
Victor initially started his professional career at the elementary school, furthering his education by studying special education at the Institute of Special Education at the University of Basel and educational psychology at the University of Fribourg. After an educational stay in the USA at the National Research Center on the Gifted and Talented, Victor developed an international master’s program on Integrative Gifted Education at the University of Teacher Education Northwestern Switzerland. He has also been active in several national and international networks, including the “International Panel of Experts of Gifted Education” (IPEGE), the “International Research Association for Talent Development and Excellence” (IRATDE) in the General Committee and Education Board of the “European Council for High Ability” (ECHA) and as a delegate in the “World Council for Gifted and Talented Children” (WCGTC).
Through his outstanding commitment and his thirst for knowledge, he not only encouraged many gifted children, parents and teachers to follow their path – we are also grateful to Victor for his decades of work and will remember him as a warm-hearted researcher and friend.
